Hemsworth, Pena elevate mediocre post-9/11 war film ‘12 Strong’ (Movie review)

“12 Strong” is a pretty average war movie, but it has a really strong cast. Based on true events, the film centers on 12 of the first US military personnel to advance on Al-Qaeda in the weeks after 9/11.

Chris Hemsworth and Michael Pena play likable characters and the action scenes are well done and sound great in my home theater. However, the story jumps around and has gaps that can be jarring as it covers a four-to-five-week time period very quickly.

Knowing that there are US soldiers who do what is depicted in “12 Strong,” who sacrifice everything for our country, is amazing. It makes this a fun watch if you enjoy military/war movies.
