“Godzilla” – I hoped for only three things from “Godzilla”: 1. A radioactive lizard 2. that stomps around New York 3. causing mass destruction. I left the theater satisfied, if not blown away. Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich’s film opens with some incredible scenes of Big G in the Big Apple, crushing buildings, sending people scurrying and cars flying. But the film goes downhill from there, shifting its focus to the baby ’zillas. As you might expect, some suspension of disbelief is required to thoroughly enjoy “Godzilla.” For example, Big G is able to sneak around under the city and lay eggs inside Madison Square Garden without damaging the outside of the building. Maybe size doesn’t matter. Despite its problems, “Godzilla” is an entertaining movie and a faithful update to the classic Japanese films. B-
