“The Naked Gun” (1988) and “Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear” (1991) — From the files of 1982’s six-episode run of “Police Squad” comes the big screen exploits of bumbling Lieutenant Frank Drebin (Leslie Neilsen). The first entry follows the character from a terrorist meeting in Beirut to a press conference for Queen Elizabeth to an undercover role as home-plate umpire in a big Angels-Mariners game. In the sequel, Drebin goes undercover to foil the schemes of evil businessmen. Frank and Ed’s boxing conversation is one of the many highlights.
Best line: “I’m sure we can discuss this like the civilized adults that we are. Isn’t that right, Mr. Poopy-pants?”
