Reviews from My Couch started as John’s Entertainment Blog (2009-17), then became Cold Bananas Movie & TV Reviews (2017-21) and has had its current name since April 2021. John Hansen reviews new and old movies and TV, and tie-in books and comics of his favorite movie and TV sagas — plus other books and comics. Shaune Redfield (who came up with the RFMC name) and Michael Olinger were previous regular contributors.

Star Ratings Scale
RFMC now uses a five-star ratings scale, but some older reviews use a grading scale. Equivalents are provided below.
5 stars: Masterpiece. Equivalent of A+.
4.5 stars: Great. Equivalent of A/A-.
4 stars: Very good. Equivalent of B+.
3.5 stars: Good. Equivalent of B/B-.
3 stars: Decent. The lowest level of “recommended.” Equivalent of C+.
2.5 stars: Mediocre. The highest level of “not recommended.” Equivalent of C/C-.
2 stars: Weak. Equivalent of D+.
1.5 stars: Poor. Equivalent of D/D-.
1 star: Bad. Equivalent of a high F.
0.5 stars: Awful. Equivalent of a low F.
0 stars: Couldn’t be worse. Equivalent of a zero grade.
Spoiler Policy
Generally, my reviews are intended as deeper analyses of the work, and it’s often necessary to delve into details. However, RFMC recognizes sensitivity to spoilers among modern readers. As such:
On new release reviews, SPOILER WARNINGS are given when specific details are revealed.
In flashback reviews, it is assumed the reader has seen or read what’s being reviewed. However, SPOILER WARNINGS are given for very specific details, like if I’m discussing the revelation of the killer in a whodunit.

You retain ownership of your work, but we ask that it be exclusively published here (and removed if it’s to be published elsewhere). This is due to Google’s policy against duplicated work.
