“The Truman Show” – One of the major themes of “The Truman Show” is how easily people can be manipulated, and the movie itself is a prime example. Jim Carrey’s latest got great reviews prior to its release, but it is not nearly as good as the hype. The premise of someone’s life being a TV show is intriguing, but the film does not exploit this idea to its full potential; it plays like an overly long “Twilight Zone” episode. The theme of “The Truman Show” – TV’s power to influence people – is the same as “The Cable Guy.” But “The Cable Guy” was much more interesting, as it unveiled the theme slowly and achieved a balance between drama and comedy.
