‘Forever War’ (2019-23) a fitting Clarrain-Modeen mashup to end ‘TMNT Adventures’
‘TMNT Adventures’ shows ambition in Issues 58-66 (1994-95)
Turtle Tuesday (Comic book reviews): Clarrain takes the story to the past and future, and delivers one of the series’ most solid issues.
Amid Mutanimals’ end, ‘TMNT Adventures’ 46-57 (1993-94) finds spark of life
Turtle Tuesday (Comic book reviews): The quality slightly increases thanks in part to callbacks to past characters, including Chameleon, Scumbug and Wyrm.
‘April O’Neil’ (1993) takes spotlight in one good, one bad miniseries
Turtle Tuesday (Comic book reviews): The first series is a strong look at April’s development in martial arts, but “The May East Saga” is dreck.
It’s shark week in the panels of ‘TMNT Adventures,’ ‘Mighty Mutanimals’ (1992-93)
Turtle Tuesday (Comic book reviews): The introduction of Armaggon, a land shark from the future, spices up titles that had been lagging. I review “Adventures” 38-45 and “Mutanimals” 6-9.
‘TMNT Adventures’ 32-37 and ‘Mighty Mutanimals’ 1-5 (1992) become ‘the banned issues’
Turtle Tuesday (Comic book review): Under Archie in the 1990s, Clarrain was allowed to tie foreign cultures into his mythology. Viacom isn’t so keen on that.
‘TMNT Adventures’ Issues 23-31 (1991-92) explore Turtles’ Japanese roots
‘TMNT’ flashback (Comic book reviews): Though not deeply profound tales, it’s clear Archie is trying; and here we get cool newcomers like Slash and Ninjara.
‘TMNT Adventures’ spins off into ‘Mighty Mutanimals’ (1991)
‘TMNT’ flashback (Comic book review): One title is not enough to contain Clarrain’s action and environmental themes, but the plots remain quite basic.
‘TMNT Adventures’ gets worldly in Issues 12-20 (1990-91)
‘TMNT’ flashback (Comic book reviews): We look at nine issues wherein Dean Clarrain’s nature-themed series builds its own world.
‘TMNT Adventures’ branches off from the cartoon in Issues 5-11 (1989-90)
‘TMNT’ flashback (Comic book reviews): The first batch of original Archie stories marks the action figure era – great for kids, not so much for adults.
